Top 10 Interior Instagramers Now

Curated to inspire

Listing my top interior Instagramers of today

This will represent just a teaser of some of my favourite inspirational home and living Instagramers at the moment. There will be updated lists to in the future, so keep a look out when you’ve gone through all of these! I’ve included some of the selected Instagramers blogs or tumblr accounts as well, they are all worth a look.

While the Modern Scandinavian style is dominating the mass home and living market, what I really like about these bloggers is that they are doing something different. They weave in art history, the great outdoors, aspects of the handmade and the sense of “home” even in the most polished of photos. I decided to divide these Interior Instagramers into two different groups. One where historical, handmade or cultural influences run strong, the other with clear references to blissful rural life .

Instagramers who work with colour, texture and art history

1. @MyInteriorDetails

First, let’s start with Swedish-German Valentina’s Instagram MyInteriorDetails and blog founded in 2014. She does a really great job of mixing up her Instagram feed with fun colours and great design pieces. Most importantly, she creates a balance between contemporary taste and personal references that work for an international audience. Most of her images are regrams so sadly the quality of the images are not too great but they reflect a great taste curation nonetheless. Inspirational indeed!

2. @insideinteriorstories

Repost from @insideinteriorstories

Then we have insideinteriorstories, an Instagram account by yes you guessed it, a Swedish blogger. With insideinteriorstories, I think it’s cool to see how the feed becomes alive from of the variety of carefully selected references especially from art history. The feed is adorned with contemporary versions of Dutch tiles, Chinoiserie wall papers, and Nordic Jugendstil tiled stoves (called “kakelugn”) are just a few examples. insideinteriorstories definitely has got a knack for finding a contemporary relevance to those precious traditional things.

3. @bertabernad_home

I think one of my absolute favourite Instagrams is bertabernad_home. The account incorporates references from Spanish inspired fashion, Picasso, in a world of pastel velvet and mid-century modern furniture. There’s a website set up in connection with this account, showcasing a curated selection of design and fashion brands.  Worth a thorough look if you ask me!

4. @annie_lindgren

Annie Lindgren is a veteran blogger. However, after having done the trade at her blog sundayselection.se for 8 years, she’s now shifted to tumblr under Sunday Selection and annie_lindgren on Instagram. I think she has an amazing eye. Not only for the genuine, relatable quality to her styling, but also how she incorporates elements of textures, the handmade and of course some “hygge” into each image. Her collages in particular are just the BEST thing.

I love Annie Lindgren’s collages. Repost from @Annie_Lindgren

5. @almostmakesperfect

Molly Madfis. Repost from @almostmakesperfect

A great addition to the list is also LA based Molly Madfis’ Instagram account almostmakesperfect. I think her work is a refreshing take on home decor with abstracted South American influences. I have not come something similar as of yet in Europe. Molly’s selections make me want to travel to the States again to chase desert cacti, poolside lounging and try her DIY projects that you can also find on her blog.

6.@my_interior_choice

Another amazing Interior Instagramer is my_interior_choice. I thought I’d mix things up with including a smaller player into the list as well. I think this collection of interior snaps is brilliantly beautiful. However, most of the images don’t have references which I find a bit of a headache. Hope there will be a blog soon to find out more about these colourful compilations!

Interior Instagramers & countryside bliss

“Think copper tea pots, linen sheets and rough wooden surfaces…”

Repost from @katarinasstil

7. @moa_home  and 8. katarinasstil

Then you find the accounts that just weave your dream of a countryside home to a whole new level of bliss. The kind of homes I would just like to curl up in a ball on a couch, sip tea and paint all day long. Enter Annette from Moa_Home and Katarina from Katarinasstil. Both these accounts just ooze cosiness. Think copper tea pots, linen sheets and rough wooden surfaces…Their accounts both seem to live in a different time dimension of golden, rural fairytales in contrast to today’s busy life.

Katarinasstil also incorporates a lot of influences from outside of Europe’s borders too, Buddhas and buffalo horns a plenty! I think it’s fun that her account is breaking away from the typically minimalist Nordic aesthetic, yet still staying true to her origins. It’s a great balancing act, because overdoing it can very easily look clumsy or fake. In the spirit of Gabriel Orozco quoted in my first post, authenticity and originality in design is constantly recycled, what matters is how well it’s reinvented and contextualised. And Katarinasstil does that really well.

Repost from @rachelchudley

On rachelchudley‘s things gets personal – I feel like you really get an unfiltered window into her process, humorous personality and sources of inspiration. Working as an interior designer with Cassie Beadle and Victoria Williams, the trio’s company is based in London. What talents!

Myself having lived in the UK for some time, I feel very close to her work. I love the elaborately patterned textiles and distinct presence of “the living room” with plenty of books and oak. Genuine British talent coupled with genuine persona makes this Instagram a treat. And did I mention her pug? Surely one of the most design aware dog in London!

10. lilyoscarinterior

Beautiful Josephine from Lily Oscar Interior. Repost from @lilyoscarinterior

Last but not least, I picked Josephine Ekström & Co’s lilyoscarinterior. A prime example of someone using a more layered Nordic design language. Something I always pick up when I browse the feed is the tenderly curated velvety reds and pinks. Mostly private snaps of her home and projects on her feed too, which I think is great. Whilst their website is under wraps, I’m really enjoying following their projects on Instagram, and you can too if you don’t already!
